Our Vision

Our vision is clear...To Prepare for Rain

A story is told of two farmers that went to church every Sunday and prayed for rain.  Only one farmer went back and planted his crops and prepared for it.  Which farmer demonstrated more faith?

First Baptist Church has been called to prepare for rain.  We are actively seeking a bi-vocational Minister of Music/Youth so we can be prepared for rain.  We are preparing to start up our Children's Programs we can be prepared for rain.  We are praying every day for guidance and direction so that we can be prepared for rain.

Join us as we await God's blessings and prepare for rain.

Our Mission

Our mission is simple.  Spread the gospel of Jesus Christ to the ends of the earth.

Matt 28:17-20
18 Then Jesus came to them and said, "All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age."

Our Pastor & Family

Pastor Mark Howdeshell has served at First Baptist since August 12th, 2007 after previously serving as the Youth Pastor at University Baptist Church (Fairbanks) where he served until he resigned to deploy with the United States Army in November of 2004.  Pastor Mark retired from the United States Army in August of 2006 after serving for over 21 years and now works for Alyeska Pipeline Service Company as the Maintenance Support Supervisor.  Mark and his wife, Jo, are very active in the community and can often be found on the volleyball court or at a UAF volleyball match.  Their son, Ryan, is a senior at Daniel Webster College in Nashua, New Hampshire where he's majoring in aeronautical and mechanical engineering and playing volleyball.    Their daughter, Torie, is a junior at Western New England University in Springfield, Massachusetts where she is studying neuroscience and playing volleyball.  Come get to know the Howdeshells.
